Surabaya (16 May 2023) – Celebration of the 24th Anniversary of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) is getting livelier with the holding of an e-sport tournament. This competition competes for the most popular games league in the world today, namely Mobile Legends (ML) Bang Bang, which will be held at the TPS Java Meeting room from 15 to 16 May 2023.
The e-sport participants, which included TPS workers and partners working in the TPS environment, seemed enthusiastic about participating in the competition. There are approximately 16 teams where each team consists of 5 people who compete.
Electronic sports or e-sports is a sport that has been recognized worldwide. Even this digital sport also has its own forum such as IESPA (Indonesia e-sports Association) or AESF (Asean Electronic Sports Federation). E-sport can even be used as a profession.
Erika A. Palupi, Corporate Secretary, said that TPS celebrated its 24th anniversary on April 29, 2023. This May, there are still several series of events being held, one of which is an e-sport tournament.
“The e-sport tournament is organized by considering the aspirations of the workers, as an activity that can strengthen a sense of togetherness with the team and foster a sense of sportsmanship. Tournaments are held in such a way that they don't interfere with the implementation of work obligations," said Erika.
Apart from being a means of fostering a sense of sportsmanship and cohesiveness, this game also requires dexterity and skills, as well as strategies for teamwork, so it is hoped that this can also be transmitted in the real world of work.
As stated by one of the TPS employees, who also enjoys playing mobile legends, namely Daniele, who works as an RTG operator at TPS on a daily basis. "Very proud and very happy, finally my office is conduct this event, of course it motivates us and fosters a sense of togetherness within the team," said Daniele.
This event was the first time it was held by TPS and it was able to attract the enthusiasm of TPS workers and partners.
It is acknowledged that until now there is still a lot of negative stigma about games, but along with technological developments, the government has designated this game as an e-sport. Even now, many national and international scale tournaments, which are participated in by various major Indonesian e-sports organizations, have entered the professional arena. Like Boom Esports, Rex Regum Qeon, Alter Ego, and EVOS Esports have been able to recruit e-sports athletes to fight under their names.
Erika said that this month, TPS is holding various series of activities to commemorate its 24th anniversary, including e-sport tournaments, bike to work which is attended by TPS stakeholders and customers, badminton tournaments, table tennis, tumpeng decoration competitions and people's markets featuring creative displays. each worker from each Directorate as the highlight of the event.
